A Brief Biography Of

Michael Boren Williams wrote some of your favourite music. Unfortunately, since he was a ghostwriter for many years, most people are unaware of the great songs he's written. That's changing now that he's releasing CDs bearing his name.

The passionate, original music of Michael Boren Williams is a pleasant surprise to those who are so dissatisfied with today's music that they haven't purchased a CD in years. His recordings blend an unprecedented combination of classical and modern music to make them monumental recordings, with the composer usually singing every vocal and playing every instrument.

Michael Boren Williams is one of the most dynamic, prolific composers today. Born in the United States and raised in many countries, he is proficient in numerous musical styles and wrote his first song, "This Is The Road", at age two. His most influential teachers were his grandfather, Bernard Boren, who occasionally played in the Spike Jones Band, and his mother, Rose Marie Boren, who sang opera in Rome. At age 11, Michael was sent to study classical guitar in London with the great master, Andrés Segovia. Frustrated at his inability to teach Michael anything he didn't already know, Segovia sent him home. Soon thereafter, he studied flamenco guitar with Manitas de Plata. By 14, he was in great demand internationally as a ghostwriter and studio musician.

When Michael was 17, he played in a successful band called "The Shades Of Blue" which briefly included songwriter John Hiatt. When Michael was around 18, he was in a band called "The Outsiders" - best known for the international hit record "Time Won't Let Me".

Michael has enjoyed a life combining the study of music, Ayurveda, spiritual exploration and world travels. He lived on the Goa coast of India for half a year as a boy and then again for a year at the age of  20. He studied numerous exotic Indian instruments, with special emphasis on the sitar and other exotic string instruments including the esraj and the tabla. While in India, he also studied Hatha Yoga under Yogi Gupta.

After leaving India, for years Michael was regularly called to the Record Plant in Los Angeles by owner Gary Kellgren to work as a studio musician playing guitar and exotic string instruments for some of the world's biggest groups.

Michael also spent time in Japan studying the koto and other exotic string instruments. His special talent is his ability to harmoniously combine multi-ethnic music forms. Micheal coined the term "World Music" to describe the multi-ethnic music he began creating while he was collaborating with his friend, Brian Jones, late founder of the Rolling Stones.

Working with people like Brian Jones, Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon and many others, Michael Boren Williams has dedicated his life to music and has travelled the world many times over in his continued quest for artistic development.

From these experiences, he now offers such exciting music CDs as "Ghostwriter", "Ghostwriter, Vol. II", "Dancing On The Ocean Floor", "Dying in the Arms of a Danish Princess" and "Diana, Queen of Hearts". These venerable musical works offer the listener a welcome alternative to the uninspiring music so often produced today. This is destined to become your favourite music!
